How To Make A Valentines Fresh Flower Arrangement

Valentine's is just around the corner, and we're very traditional in believing there is no better gift to receive than a beautiful fresh bouquet of Flowers! And its nice to see many of you agree, with Fresh Bouquets being the best-seller in most shops for Valentine's Day!

If you are a hobbyist in the Flower Arranging world and hoping to do your own bouquet this Valentines, then this blog is just perfect for you. Follow these step-by-step instructions and simply get stuck in!

What You Will Need:

  • Soft Ruscus
  • Eucalyptus
  • Hard ruscus
  • Palms
  • Noami Roses
  • Floristry Sissors - SC4608
  • Wire - WR6005
  • Vase - GLA3089

Step 1)

Gather your foliage and flowers, making sure you have everything you need. Next, trim the lower thorns and lower leaves off all of the Roses and Foliage, leaving a long plain stem exposed of about 10cm; this will be where it sits in the vase and ties, so it will allow you to fit more flowers in and easily tie it together as a bouquet.

Step 2)

Once all of the lower leaves and thorns have been cut, you can now start bundling your foliage and roses together. Use one hand to put the stems together, making sure they go over in a 'spiral' pattern (this will make the bouquet nice and full when complete). Start by doing a small cluster of Foliage, and then as you have a small collection, add in the focal flower (Rose in this case).

Step 3)

Once you have your starting bunch, continue to add the same pattern of Foliage and Flowers to make a nice full bouquet. Make sure to try and turn the bouquet in your hand, so that as you add it fills all the way around equally and not just one-sided. Continue to turn and add more until you reach the desired look you wish to achieve.

Step 4)

Once you are happy with the shape and fullness of the bouquet (make sure it will fit in the vase too) you can now add the Palm Leaves around the outside of the bouquet to finish off the aesthetic. We used the palms around all the sides of the bouquet to frame it - they will naturally fall to give them a lovely full effect in the final bouquet.

Step 5)

When the palm is on the outside of the bouquet, you can now tie the bouquet together to keep it secure. You can use Wire, or floral tape - we used Natural Wire. Use one hand to hold the bouquet, as you use your other hand to wrap multiple times around the bouquet stems. Once you have gone round a few times, you can place the bouquet on the table and knot the Wire to secure it.

Step 6)

Finally, you can pop your lovely bouquet into your chosen vase, we used 'GLA3089'. If you find it is sitting unevenly, it may be that a few of the stems may need to be trimmed at the end to equal the bouquet out. If you would like to add an extra effect if you are wishing to gift your bouquet, you can simply add a Valentines Helium Balloon by attaching it to a center flower.

Top Tip:

To keep your bouquet and roses as fresh as possible, choose a cool place, out of direct sunlight, away from radiators and the fruit bowl to help prolong the life of your Roses!
