How To Make A Fresh Spring / Valentines Bouquet

If you'd like to do a Valentine's Bouquet that's a little bit less traditional than the usual Roses, then this might be the perfect Bouquet for you! This beautiful fresh arrangement is the Valentine's meeting Spring, with bright, bold colours, and the odd rose scattered within!

This how-to guide is perfect if you are a Hobbyist or simply a Flower Arranger looking for some inspiration! Follow these step-by-step instructions and simply get stuck in!

What You Will Need:

  • Eucalyptus
  • Pussy Willow
  • Noami Rose
  • Soft Ruscus
  • Birch
  • Veronica
  • Chrysanthemum
  • Alstromerea
  • Gerbera
  • Floristry Sissors - SC4608
  • Wire - WR6005
  • Bouquet Box - BG3150
  • Dot Cellophane - FF2454

Step 1)

Firstly lay out your tissue paper and get your cellophane paper ready.
Start by folding the tissue paper in half, and holding it onto the opposite corners. Then with the cellophane, continue to fold it a further 3 times to create seams and a central point, as demonstrated in the image.

Step 2)

Gather your foliage and flowers, making sure you have everything you need. Next, trim the lower thorns and lower leaves off all of the Roses and Foliage, leaving a long plain stem exposed of about 10cm; this will be where it sits in the bouquet box and ties, so it will allow you to fit more flowers in and easily tie it together as a bouquet.

Step 3)

Once all of the lower leaves and thorns have been cut, you can now start bundling your foliage and Focal Flowers together. Use one hand to put the stems together, making sure they go over in a 'spiral' pattern (this will make the bouquet nice and full when complete). Start by doing a small cluster of Foliage, and then as you have a small collection, add some focal flowers in bundles. Make sure to follow a similar pattern of order of flowers, so the bouquet looks nice and even throughout.

Step 4)

Continue to build your bouquet following the same patterns until it is nice and full in your hand. Make sure to try and turn the bouquet in your hand as you go, so that as you add it fills all the way around equally and not just one-sided. Continue to turn and add more until you reach the desired look you wish to achieve.

Step 5)

Once you have finalized the shape and fullness of the bouquet, you can now add the Palm Leaves around the outside of the bouquet to finish off the aesthetic look, this will frame it beautifully and create a more full look that slightly comes out of the sides of the Flower Bag.

Step 6)

Now you can tie the bouquet together to keep it secure, you can use Wire, or floral tape - we used Natural Wire. Use one hand to hold the bouquet, as you use your other hand to wrap multiple times around the bouquet stems. Once you have gone around a few times, you can place the bouquet on the table and knot the Wire to secure it.

Once it is secure, cut the stems so they are all equal and flatter - this will help them lie nicely within the bouquet.

Step 7)

Next, lay your finished bouquet on the tissue paper. Wrap the tissue paper neatly, and keep the edges straight, then cellotape length ways to keep the paper in place. Keep the tissue paper off the stems, as these will be wet from water in the bottom of the bag.

Step 8)

Following step 7, follow the same method for the first section of Cellophane wrap. Once complete, get a second section of cellophane wrap, and create a bubble at the bottom of the stems - this will be filled with water to keep the bouquet as fresh as possible. Tie the second Cellophane with the same ribbon used for the bouquet, securely tie the cellophane in the same place as before.

Step 9)

Finally, place your finished bouquet into the Bouquet Box, and get ready to gift to someone special!
